Staff Product Engineer (up to £200k)

Company: Dex
Apply for the Staff Product Engineer (up to £200k)
Location: London
Job Description:

This role is with one of Dex’s trusted partner companies. We work closely with their teams to truly understand their culture, goals, and what they’re looking for, so we can match you with the right opportunity and give you context about the role before you commit to a process.

The role

Engineers get paged at 3 am. This company builds the AI incident response platform that helps them fix things faster. It unifies on‑call, incident response, AI SRE, and status pages into one product. Hundreds of leading companies rely on it daily, running over half a million incidents with tens of thousands of responders. They’re well‑funded by leading VCs and growing fast.

This isn’t a ticket‑taker role. As a Staff Product Engineer, you’ll own features end‑to‑end, from initial design to delivery. You’ll identify the core problems, engage directly with customers, and make critical trade‑offs. This means knowing when to ship at 70% to learn, and when to invest deeply in resilience. You won’t just build what’s handed to you; you’ll shape the product.

The work

  • Take full ownership of new features, from initial concept and customer discovery through to shipping and iteration.
  • Identify the most impactful problems to solve, rather than simply executing pre‑defined specs.
  • Engage directly with customers to validate assumptions and deeply understand their operational pain points.
  • Make pragmatic trade‑offs between shipping speed and long‑term resilience, knowing when to iterate fast and when to build for scale.
  • Drive a high bar for engineering quality: clear proposals, thorough testing, and actionable code reviews.

What You Bring

  • Proven track record shipping production‑ready applications, with strong experience in Go, Python, Ruby on Rails, or React.
  • A deeply product‑minded approach: you prioritize outcomes, engage with customers, and actively identify the right problems to solve.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, sharing work‑in‑progress early and shaping product direction rather than waiting for a perfect spec.
  • Pragmatic judgment on technical debt, knowing when to invest in resilience and when to prioritize shipping speed.
  • A high bar for engineering excellence, actively mentoring peers and elevating the team’s overall quality.
