Grounds Maintenance Assistant

Location: Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, FK5 4WRSalary: Agenda for Change Band 2, £26,696 to £28,988 (pro rata) plus excellent benefitsSchedule: Fixed Term Contract 6-months, 36 hours per week. Rolling 4-week rota: 8am to 4pm with 2.30pm finish on Friday (week 2) and Monday (week 3)

Your work will ensure that outdoor environments are fit for purpose, accessible, and maintained to a high standard.

You’ll play an important role in creating a positive experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues by keeping external areas safe, compliant, and well presented. From pathways to green spaces, your contribution helps create an environment people can trust and take pride in every day.

What you’ll do as Grounds Maintenance Assistant

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Carry out planned and reactive grounds maintenance across external areas including gardens, pathways, and car parks
  • Undertake routine preventative maintenance including waste removal and disposal
  • Maintain building perimeters, pathways, and external spaces to a high standard
  • Complete basic external fabric tasks including cleaning accessible roofs and gullies
  • Conduct equipment checks and maintain accurate maintenance records
  • Support site operations by escorting contractors and collecting materials when required

  • An understanding of health and safety and safe working practices
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A proactive and responsible approach to your work
  • Full UK driving licence

Vetting and checks:This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities.
