Role Overview
Maintenance Team Leader (UK CAA B2) – B2 Maintenance Team Leader (UK CAA B2) at British Airways Maintenance Glasgow. The MTL leads and supervises maintenance teams carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks, inspections and defect rectifications.
Responsibilities
- Ensure team compliance with environmental, quality, health and safety, and housekeeping standards.
- Oversee individual and team activities to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and company standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues, shift manager and support departments to meet departmental targets.
- Organise and agree team work schedules and allocate tasks to deliver on agreed targets.
- Manage people in line with company policies, including disciplinary procedures.
- Provide coaching, performance management and development through individual and group interactions.
- Work to improve schedules and reduce aircraft downtime.
- Provide technical leadership for maintenance tasks.
- Sign off work upon completion within the full scope of approval.
- Communicate effectively across the organisation.
- Deliver departmental productivity and cost targets by driving improvements to tasks, processes and the work environment.
Qualifications
- Good technical decision‑making ability.
- Strong leadership and people skills.
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication at all organisational levels.
- PC‑literate, capable of working with engineering and document management systems.
- Willingness to work shifts.
- Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., fuel tanks).
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Experience
- Valid UK CAA Part 66 B2 licence (essential).
- Maintains Base Maintenance authorisations on A320 family type and meets recency requirements (essential).
- Experience leading teams in an aircraft maintenance environment (essential).
- Minimum of three years aircraft maintenance experience (essential).
