Senior Project Manager (Internal Applications Only)
We are seeking a highly capable Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of individual and multiple projects across the Training Estate. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of customer satisfaction.
Role Summary
This role is critical in driving project excellence across the contract, supporting operational teams, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Compliance
- Ensure Training Estate Facilities are fit for purpose and compliant with TESC service modules
- Lead on complex and/or national fee‑earning projects
- Develop and define client briefs and establish preferred delivery options
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant health & safety standards
- Oversee design, planning, delivery, and completion of project works
- Liaise with statutory bodies to secure required approvals
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks
- Deliver against sustainability targets and minimise through‑life costs
- Prepare firm price documentation and manage supply chain contracts through to handover
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Regional Operations Managers, Programme Managers, and Commercial Managers
- Provide technical and specialist project management advice across the estate
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and customer representatives
- Engage with statutory and non‑statutory bodies to ensure compliance
- Support and advise wider estate users, including the public
Leadership & SME Support
- Act as the regional Project Management SME
- Support development and delivery of training to regional teams
- Work with Contract Support Office SMEs to ensure best practice
- Maintain accurate project documentation across IT and paper‑based systems
About You
Knowledge & Experience
- A recognised project management qualification or working towards one
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation (e.g. COSHH, LOLER, PUWER, Legionella, Asbestos, CDM)
- Experience managing budgets and project financial performance
- Understanding of risk management and project lifecycle delivery
- Experience working with customers and multiple stakeholders
Desirable
- Knowledge of MoD Defence Contracts and MOD standards (JSPs, DMGs)
- Experience in a Defence environment
- Familiarity with NEC forms of contract
- Knowledge of Building Regulations across the UK
Skills & Capabilities
- Proven ability to manage complex projects end‑to‑end
- Strong organisational skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
- Confident in interpreting budgets and contract requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong negotiation and customer‑focused approach
- Ability to manage contractors and supply chain partners effectively
- Proficient in MS Excel and MS Project
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and ambiguity
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
