We’re working with a supportive secondary school in Rochdale that is looking to appoint an experienced SEN Support Assistant to join their Provision Unit on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a rewarding role for someone who has experience supporting young people with additional needs and understands that every student responds differently. You’ll be working both on a 1:1 basis and with small groups, helping students access learning, regulate their emotions and develop the confidence to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
The Provision Unit offers a nurturing environment for students who require additional support, making it essential that you’re calm, resilient and able to build positive, professional relationships, even during the most challenging moments.
- Supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs within the school’s Provision Unit.
- Providing tailored 1:1 support as well as leading and assisting small group interventions.
- Encouraging students to engage with learning and reach their individual goals.
- Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teams to deliver consistent support.
- Recording student progress and contributing to support plans where appropriate.
- Promoting positive behaviour while helping students develop strategies to manage their emotions and build independence.
- Has previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Has strong behaviour management skills and can confidently de-escalate challenging situations.
- Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Builds trust quickly while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations.
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues, parents and external professionals.
- Is committed to helping every student achieve their potential, regardless of the barriers they face.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
