Product Review Engineer

Work Location: Birmingham, England

This will suit a proactive individual who can make engineering decisions that can go beyond their desks and into the factory/hangar regularly. This post is for a Mechanical and/or Avionic/Electrical Product Review Engineer, who has had experience as an product review engineering or as an experienced Part 21 Engineer. This position shall will report to the Design & Production Engineering Manager.

The successful candidate will be trained to hold authorisation/certification for the applicable platform (aircraft type) and will conduct root cause analysis, develop dispositions for identified non-conformances (NCRs) and identify/support improvements to processes and procedures. Additionally, they will identify, document, and communicate deviations that could impact product design intent/safety and coordinate with the Design organisation as required to resolve emergent airworthiness issues and concerns.

In this role the, the successful candidate will fulfil a role in the Engineering function and on a typical day, Product Review Engineer will create design solutions to address any and all non-conformances (NCRs) for parts and systems on an airplane, which includes correcting any build or design errors found during production. Their solutions will take into consideration: metal and composite structures, interiors, payloads, electrical systems, functional testing, finishes, aerodynamics, electromagnetic environment, damage tolerance, fatigue and static strength. This will be achieved by providing procedures, authorized repair advice and associated technical data to address engineering clarification questions or concerns. They will, apply knowledge of engineering, maintenance and design processes and data that are necessary for defining optimized component recovery techniques to include; utilising design definitions, program directives, engineering drawings, schematics, functional tests or supplier data. We are looking for a proactive individual who can make informed engineering decisions that can go beyond their desks and into the production facility for engagement with the installation team.

This will be based on-site in Birmingham.

  • Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Apply *** design engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues that arise and design interim and final engineering solutions.
  • Applies knowledge of *** design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Analyse, conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis and troubleshoot to understand root cause. Provide assistance and engineering support to identify solutions. Provide written dispositions for design non-conformances. Support activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.
  • Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop and implement product/process improvements.
  • Represent the engineering community in the post production environment.
  • Ensure supplier and build partner comply with *** standards & processes.
  • Design interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.
  • Develop non-destructive test procedures.
  • Conduct simple static strength analysis.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives, processes and standards.
  • Work independently and determine and develop approaches to solutions. Receive general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Qualifications and experience and skills:

    Essential:

    • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
    • Aircraft systems knowledge
    • A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands
    • Computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Word and, MS Excel

    Preferred:

    Aircraft maintenance and/or operations knowledge

    Experience with major repairs / Experience as an experienced Part 21 Engineer

    Ability to plan work, and use meaningful metrics to evaluate project status and provide performance visibility

    Prior experience in the field of aircraft fleet maintenance is desirable

    Holds Security Clearance
