Join Close Brothers Property Finance Team where you will support the team in the ongoing management of their portfolio of loans to property developer and investor clients.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake due diligence on newly approved loan facilities ensuring that all lending requirements are met and that all credit controls and procedures are properly adhered to.
  • Maintain customer account records in the Lending System in order that the integrity of the Bank’s accounting records and data is maintained, liaising with the Credit, Finance and Operation teams as appropriate.
  • Assist the Line Manager with the preparation of Credit Committee papers and attend Credit Committee in conjunction with the Line Manager to seek approval for new loan facilities, renewals, and amendments to the portfolio and present the papers to Committee when required.
  • Prepare and issue Facility, Amendment and Renewal Letters and follow up thereafter.
  • Instruct the bank’s professional advisors (solicitors, valuers and monitoring surveyors) and thereafter ensure that their reports are received promptly and address all the relevant issues (as set out in the formal instructions) and are generally of a quality which meets the bank’s desired standards.
  • Assess in conjunction with the Line Manager, the valuation and quantity surveyors reports to ensure that the quality of the security and viability of a project (where appropriate) meets the bank’s requirements.
  • Prepare payments for authorisation at the completion of new facilities or for stage and interim payments, ensuring that the approved lending parameters and any special requirements have been addressed or ‘signed off’ by the appropriate people.
  • Monitor the portfolio and keep loan renewals and Annual Credit Reviews up to date.
  • Take new enquiries from potential clients and introducers and obtain information for further consideration with the Line Manager for suitable opportunities.
  • Attend site and other meetings to develop a strong relationship, understanding of the transaction and build your knowledge of the industry and clients.

Qualifications and experience

  • Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload and work under pressure when necessary.
  • Self-motivated and able to demonstrate excellent time management skills.
  • Good communication skills and a professional manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • An understanding of financial accounts and key risks associated with lending.
  • An understanding of the UK residential development and wider real estate markets.
