About the Company

Our client is a growing Design & Build contractor delivering mixed‑use developments across the UK, including retail units, industrial and commercial buildings, gyms, shopping centres, car parks and associated infrastructure works.

About the Role

Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Clerk of Works / Quality Manager to take a leading role in site‑based quality assurance, inspection, and coaching across multiple live projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain Project Quality Plans and inspection regimes.
  • Manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), WIRs, MIRs and quality records.
  • Conduct detailed site inspections, audits and quality reviews throughout all phases of construction.
  • Inspect key stages including groundworks, reinforced concrete structures, steel frame erection, fit‑out and final finishes.
  • Monitor subcontractor workmanship and compliance with project quality requirements.
  • Identify, record and close out non‑conformances and corrective actions.
  • Produce clear inspection reports, photographic evidence and quality documentation.
  • Support client inspections, Building Control visits and third‑party audits.
  • Provide on‑site coaching, guidance and quality‑related support to construction teams.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and company quality procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement and lessons‑learned initiatives across the business.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Construction, Civil Engineering, Building Studies, Quality Management or related discipline.
  • CSCS Black Card or equivalent.

Required Skills

  • Experience as a Clerk of Works, Quality Manager, Building Inspector or Construction Quality Assurance professional.
  • Proven background within the UK construction sector.
  • Strong experience of steel frame and reinforced concrete construction from groundworks through to completion.
  • Practical knowledge of quality assurance systems, inspection regimes, ITPs, WIRs and MIRs.
  • Solid understanding of Building Regulations, audit processes and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing subcontractor quality performance across complex supply chains.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Preferred Skills

  • Clerk of Works experience.
  • Lead Auditor (ISO 9001).
  • SMSTS.
  • CIOB, ICWCI or CQI membership.
  • Experience on large‑scale commercial, industrial, retail or mixed‑use developments.

Pay range and compensation package

£55,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits
