About STEM for Kids UK

STEM for Kids UK helps children aged 5 to 15 explore robotics, coding, engineering, and technology through a fun, hands-on, project-based approach.

At our Buckhurst Hill centre, we want children to feel excited, confident, and curious. Our sessions are designed to make STEM accessible and enjoyable, helping young learners build problem-solving skills, creativity, resilience, and a love of learning.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Centre Manager to help us grow the centre, support our students and parents, and be part of a positive, ambitious team.

About the role

This is a varied role combining centre operations, parent communication, student support, team coordination, and hands-on involvement in our STEM programmes.

You do not need to be a robotics or coding expert from day one. What matters most is that you are organised, warm, dependable, great with children and parents, and excited to learn.

You will work closely with the Centre Manager to ensure the centre runs smoothly and that every child has a safe, engaging, and memorable learning experience.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the centre
  • Welcoming students and parents and creating a warm, professional environment
  • Communicating with parents about classes, progress, bookings, trials, and queries
  • Helping manage class schedules, attendance, resources, and centre administration
  • Supporting instructors during sessions where needed
  • Helping maintain high standards of teaching, safety, behaviour, and student engagement
  • Assisting with trial classes, open days, holiday camps, and local events
  • Supporting student retention and helping families understand the value of our programmes
  • Helping prepare learning materials, equipment, and classroom spaces
  • Contributing ideas to improve the student and parent experience
  • Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety, and centre policies are followed at all times

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, positive, and confident around children 5 to 15
  • Highly reliable, organised, and proactive
  • A strong communicator with both parents and team members
  • Calm, patient, and able to manage a busy learning environment
  • Excited by education, technology, creativity, and children’s development
  • Willing to learn about robotics, coding, and STEM education
  • Comfortable taking ownership and solving problems
  • Professional, trustworthy, and safety-conscious
  • A team player who wants to contribute to a growing centre
  • Able to represent STEM for Kids UK in a friendly and professional way

Ideal Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be helpful, but not essential:

  • Education, tutoring, childcare, camps, clubs, or enrichment programmes
  • Centre coordination, administration, or operations
  • Sales, enrolments, school outreach, or community engagement

Most importantly, we are looking for the right attitude, energy, and commitment.

Why join us?

This is a great opportunity to join a growing children’s education centre with a meaningful mission.

You will:

  • Help children build confidence in STEM
  • Be part of a supportive and ambitious team
  • Learn new skills in robotics, coding, and education
  • Play a key role in shaping the culture and growth of the Buckhurst Hill centre
  • Work in a fun, creative, and purpose-driven environment
  • Make a real difference to children and families in the local community

Safeguarding

  • STEM for Kids UK is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be expected to follow all safeguarding procedures and may be required to complete relevant checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
