Job Summary
We are in search of a Systems Engineer for our Leidos engineering capability. The successful Systems Engineer will have a full understanding of the principles of systems engineering, prior experience as a Systems Engineer involving integrating software products from suppliers, and will be responsible for working with customers and suppliers to execute Systems Engineering activities across the full lifecycle, with a focus on the low level system design.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of sub-systems, ensuring all components function cohesively to meet specified requirements.
- Liaise with stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) to gather, analyse, and refine system requirements.
- Support the definition and design of interfaces.
- Create and maintain detailed system design documentation, including specifications, diagrams, and interface definitions.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to determine optimal system design solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and network components.
- Support the validation and verification of system designs.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and drive the implementation of best practices in design and integration.
- Support project planning and estimation activities related to systems design and integration tasks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance processes.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in system design within a relevant industry.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering methodologies, lifecycle management, and design principles.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Experience with ArchiMate and TOGAF.
- Background in cybersecurity and/or cloud systems.
- Knowledge of secure by design guidelines.
- Knowledge of JSP 465.
Hybrid Working
Hybrid working – on‑site presence required as dictated by programme and customer engagement.
