Social Worker (Early Adulthood Team)

Salary: £37,280 – £41,771 per annumWorking Hours: 37 hours per week, Full‑TimeEmployment Type: PermanentLocation: Hybrid – Stopford House and homeworking (office attendance 2 days a week for duty and team meetings, 1 day on duty)

Job Description

The Adult Social Care Early Adulthood Team is seeking a Social Worker to deliver strengths‑based, person‑centred statutory social work practice with young adults aged 14–25 years and their families. The role aims to promote independence and prepare young people for adulthood within a specialist social work setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide statutory social work services to young people aged 14–25 and their families, ensuring practice is strengths‑based and person‑centred.
  • Conduct holistic assessments in line with the Care Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, and SEND legislation.
  • Prepare and implement safeguarding plans, liaising with Children’s social care teams, including safeguarding and leaving care teams.
  • Collaborate with professionals in education, health, housing, and provider services to support young people’s transition to adulthood.
  • Maintain accurate statutory records, reports and secure confidential information.
  • Participate in team meetings and multidisciplinary case conferences.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Statutory social work experience in a relevant setting.
  • Knowledge and application of legislation relevant to young adults, including the Care Act and related statutes.
  • Demonstrated strength‑based approach and understanding of safeguarding.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and negotiation under supervision.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, administrative and prioritisation skills.
  • Commitment to completing an ASYE within the first year in post.

Pre‑employment Conditions

  • Successful applicants will undergo satisfactory pre‑employment clearances, including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
  • Applicants must be able to meet the conditions of the Guaranteed Assessment Scheme where applicable.
