Salary: £36,000 – 76,000 per year

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing, configuring, and supporting network virtualisation platforms such as NSX or similar
  • Ability to balance hands‑on engineering with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities
  • Confidence to take ownership of solutions and represent networking in technical discussions
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, the OSI model, and routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs, and VLANs
  • Network virtualisation experience with NSX‑T, including design, configuration, and support of NSX‑based networking environments
  • Software‑defined networking experience, including logical switching, routing, and micro‑segmentation
  • Experience integrating NSX networking within virtualised and platform environments such as VCF
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco or equivalent multi‑vendor network equipment
  • Knowledge of network security technologies including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and segmentation
  • Familiarity with virtualisation and cloud networking concepts
  • Experience with network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools
  • Understanding of ITIL and service management frameworks
  • Experience delivering within secure, enterprise, or defence environments
  • Desirable: VMware NSX‑T deep expertise and certification or equivalent experience
  • Desirable: VCF networking integration, including vSphere, vSAN, and Aria Suite
  • Desirable: Overlay and underlay network design concepts
  • Desirable: Automation of network configuration using Ansible, Terraform, or APIs
  • Desirable: Integration with security tooling such as SIEM and SOC platforms
  • Desirable: Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, and hybrid connectivity
  • Desirable: Experience working in highly secure or regulated environments

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and support network virtualisation solutions such as VMware NSX within secure and enterprise environments
  • Take ownership of engineering delivery for one or more work packages, including planning, estimation, execution, and reporting
  • Develop and review high‑level and low‑level network designs and technical documentation
  • Integrate and test network components, ensuring compliance with performance and security requirements
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical leadership to Network Engineers and Technicians
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, project teams, and customers to ensure solutions meet requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering standards and governance
