Location: North West (Manchester / Liverpool Region) – Field Based
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role
A growing and well-established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer (Barriers & Doors) to support a range of commercial and residential sector clients across the North West. This field-based position offers a varied workload, including reactive maintenance, planned preventative servicing, fault diagnosis, and installation of automated access systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering high-quality service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend emergency breakdowns and reactive maintenance call-outs.
- Diagnose and repair faults on automated doors, gates, and barrier systems.
- Carry out routine servicing and planned preventative maintenance.
- Install and commission automated access equipment.
- Conduct site inspections, surveys, and system assessments.
- Complete accurate service reports and job documentation.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain timesheets and work records to company standards.
- Participate in an on‑call rota and undertake overtime when required.
Skills & Experience Required
- ADSA or ADIA accreditation.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with automatic doors, gates, barriers, or similar automation systems.
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence.
- Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Flexible approach to working hours and customer requirements.
