  • Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Location: Cumbria (2/3 days per week on‑site)
  • Contract: 12 Months
  • Pay Rate: GBP53–GBP60 per hour Inside IR35 (based on experience)

Work on some of the largest and most complex nuclear decommissioning programmes in the UK. Lead and influence engineering decisions as a technical authority. Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams in a regulated, safety‑critical environment. Shape the future of UK nuclear facilities through technical expertise, design oversight, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical support within your specialty area, ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Make informed engineering decisions from both technical and project management perspectives.
  • Act as technical lead or authority for mechanical engineering aspects when required.
  • Assess and manage all changes within the project scope.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering procedures, codes, and standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce, review, and approve technical documents, calculations, analyses, drawings, and models.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience working on heavily regulated sites with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to manage engineering scopes and deliver complex projects.
  • Experience covering a wide range of mechanical engineering tasks across multiple complexities.
  • Chartered Engineer status preferred.
  • Active UK security clearance required.
