Job Description:

ROLE: Multi‑Skilled Technician (Electrical)

WORK HOURS: Shift pattern (7am‑3pm and 2pm‑10pm)

LOCATION: Royal Victoria Infirmary & Freeman Hospital, Newcastle

OVERVIEW

You will be part of a team delivering maintenance support to the M&E Supervisor across hospital sites, ensuring high standards of plant and equipment reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance activities in line with contractual obligations.
  • Maintain plant and equipment following O&M manuals, best practice and relevant legislation.
  • Respond to reactive calls, completing job sheets and documentation within required timeframes.
  • Carry out testing on emergency lighting, fixed‑wire and lightning‑protection systems (BS EN 5266, 7671, 62305) and rectify faults.
  • Assist in supervising subcontractors, perform isolations and follow Safe Systems of Work and company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in electrical and/or multi‑disciplined maintenance, including LV, lighting, fire alarms, emergency lighting, nurse call, DHW, LTHW and ventilation systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and knowledge of health & safety legislation.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and demonstrate excellent customer awareness and teamwork.
