Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site role for Road Gangs, Drain Layers, and Groundworkers. Day‑to‑day tasks may include installing and maintaining drainage systems, laying pipes and ducts, preparing sub‑bases, forming kerbs and footpaths, and carrying out general road and highway groundwork. The role also involves excavation, trenching, levelling, and backfilling, as well as supporting landscaping and site clearance activities where required. Team members will be expected to follow site plans and instructions, operate tools and small plant safely, and maintain a clean and organized work area. The position requires adherence to health and safety regulations, site method statements, and risk assessments, as well as effective communication with site supervisors and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Valid CSCS or CSCS Card demonstrating appropriate site safety and construction competence.
- Proven experience in Groundworks, including drainage installation, excavation, backfilling, and road or path construction.
- Experience or knowledge in Landscaping and working around Trees, including site clearance and protection of existing vegetation.
- Familiarity with reading basic site drawings and setting out levels under supervision.
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices on construction sites and willingness to follow all procedures.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable transport and flexibility to work standard site hours and occasional overtime as required.
- Previous experience in groundwork, civils, or road construction is highly beneficial; relevant NVQ or equivalent construction qualification is an advantage.
