English Lecturer (16–18)
Location: College based in BR2 8HE
Pay: £22.00 per hour (PAYE) or £27.00 per hour (Self-Employed)
Contract: Temporary Ongoing
Hours: Full-Time
Start Date: Wednesday 19th August (flexibility on start date may be considered)
About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced English Lecturer to join a college based in BR2 8HE, delivering GCSE English to learners aged 16–18.
This is a temporary ongoing opportunity to join a supportive teaching team, delivering engaging lessons that help students achieve their full potential while preparing them for further education or employment.
You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons, assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and create an inclusive learning environment that supports student achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality GCSE English lessons to learners aged 16–18
- Plan, prepare and assess engaging lessons in line with the curriculum
- Monitor learner progress and provide timely feedback
- Support students to achieve their academic goals
- Maintain accurate learner records and attendance
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching and learning
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK with no restrictions on working hours
- PGCE, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent teaching qualification
- Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification teaching experience within a UK secondary school, further education college, sixth form, academy, or alternative provision
- Experience teaching GCSE English
- Relevant English qualification
- Strong understanding of the GCSE English curriculum
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Desirable
- Experience delivering Functional Skills English (Entry Level 3 and above)
- Experience supporting learners with varying abilities and learning needs
Please Note
- Private tuition or home tutoring alone will not be considered sufficient experience.
- ESOL teaching experience alone is not equivalent to GCSE English teaching experience.
- Candidates must be able to travel reliably to the college in BR2 8HE.
