Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a specialist and well‑established engineering and construction business, as they look to strengthen their Contracts Division with the appointment of an experienced Contracts Manager.

This role sits within a fast‑paced project delivery environment and would suit a commercially aware construction professional with extensive experience managing structural steel projects from inception through to completion. The successful candidate will take ownership of multiple contracts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

There is an excellent remuneration package on offer including a basic salary of c£45,000, 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays, company pension, comprehensive employee wellbeing support, free onsite parking and an early finish every Friday.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Manage the safe and profitable delivery of structural steel projects from contract award through to completion
  • Lead, coordinate and motivate project teams, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, monitoring progress, mitigating risks and ensuring contractual obligations are met
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and project partners to support project success and future business opportunities
  • Work closely with commercial teams to manage valuations, contractual notices, project finances and overall contract performance

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing construction or structural steel projects in a Contracts Manager or similar capacity
  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication, construction processes and project delivery within a live site environment
  • Excellent commercial awareness with knowledge of NEC contracts, project programming and contractual management
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manage multiple stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, supported by a good understanding of health and safety requirements
