Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Security Officer role based in Gateshead. The Security Officer will be responsible for patrolling assigned premises, monitoring entrances and exits, and controlling access to ensure the safety and security of people, property, and assets. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine and random inspections, responding to alarms and incidents, completing clear and accurate incident reports, and liaising with supervisors, clients, and emergency services when required. The role also involves monitoring CCTV systems, managing visitor logs, checking identification or passes, and maintaining a visible presence to deter unauthorized activity. The Security Officer will be expected to follow company procedures, comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and represent MBS Protection Services in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in security, guarding, or related protective services, with the ability to patrol, monitor, and respond effectively to incidents.
- Strong observation, situational awareness, and risk assessment skills to identify potential threats and take appropriate preventative action.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear incident reports and interact professionally with clients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions in emergencies, and de-escalate conflicts when needed.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.
- Physically able to carry out patrols, stand for extended periods, and respond quickly across the site, with reasonable accommodations where appropriate.
- Relevant security certifications or licenses in line with local regulations (e.g., SIA or equivalent), or eligibility and willingness to obtain them.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to work shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Gateshead site, is required for the role.
