About the Role

If you like to work with people who are living with long-term health conditions or have recently been diagnosed with a new condition, Coventry Community Health Psychological Service offers an exciting opportunity. We are a friendly team who work very closely with nursing, therapy and medical colleagues to provide a psychological approach for patients and their carers. Over the past couple of years, community services have worked to implement a new neighbourhood approach to ensure accessible, equitable and effective care – with psychological approaches as a key element.

You will join Psychological Services at UHCW, which delivers psychological care within UHCW, outpatients and Coventry community health provision. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with psychological colleagues across GEH and UHCW and welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists ready to take on a preceptorship role.

Responsibilities

  • To work as a Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist within the Community Clinical Health Psychology Team.
  • To provide a psychological approach as part of an interdisciplinary team, which includes Allied Health Professionals, Nursing and Medics, delivering services to adults referred to the Coventry Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INTs) and Urgent Care Services.
  • To manage a caseload and work with the wider multidisciplinary team to support the care needs of patients referred to INTs.
  • To provide specialist evidence‑based psychological assessment and treatment of complex cases, requiring detailed analysis, formulation and interventions to maximise quality of life.
  • To provide specialist advice and consultation to a range of multi‑agency professionals and non‑professional carers, utilising research skills for audit, policy and service development.
  • To work autonomously within the professional guidelines and the Trust’s framework and team policies and procedures.
  • To follow defined care pathways and other relevant pathways as required.
  • To assist in the quality and activity monitoring systems.
