Hours: 6am – 2pm, 2pm – 12 Midnight currently | This will be changing in the near future to the following 6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm, 10pm to 6am

The M+E Maintenance Engineer Opportunity

A recruitment partner is currently supporting a well‑established engineering and manufacturing business in the search for an experienced M+E Maintenance Engineer to join their maintenance team. This position will play a key role in supporting day‑to‑day operational reliability across a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring plant equipment, systems and machinery are maintained to a high operational and compliance standard. The business operates within a precision engineering and heavy industrial environment, supplying specialist engineered products into demanding global markets.

Key Responsibilities of the M+E Maintenance Engineer

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance and respond to reactive breakdowns across the facility.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults safely and efficiently, minimising downtime and supporting production continuity.
  • Assist with installation works and modifications to plant equipment, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site safety procedures and compliance standards.
  • Follow suitable risk assessments and safe systems of work before carrying out tasks.
  • Work with site electrical and control systems, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain accurate maintenance records using internal systems and software.
  • Liaise with production teams, supervisors and external contractors to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure work is completed effectively and safely.

Requirements from the M+E Maintenance Engineer

  • Recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical maintenance engineering.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environment.
  • Strong fault‑finding abilities across mechanical and electrical systems; exposure to PLCs, plant controls and automated systems is highly advantageous.
  • Self‑motivated, safety conscious, capable of working independently or as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy.
