Teaching Assistant (TA2) and Lunchtime Supervisor (MDSA)

At St Michael’s Church of England Primary School.

St. Michael’s has a well-established caring ethos founded on our Christian values of Love, Honesty, Forgiveness & Respect, where every member of our school is valued as an individual, enriching the happy, caring environment which we strive to create.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and making a positive impact on their educational journey to work in a small team, predominantly with KS2 pupils. This role will be specifically focused on supporting pupils with barriers to learning including (but not exclusive to) a dyslexic profile, dyscalculia or other neurodivergence. To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience supporting children in a classroom setting (preferred but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of child development, including children with differing needs and neurodivergence.
  • The ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Proficiency in maths and English.
  • High expectations for both yourself and the children you support.
  • A commitment to the Christian values of the school.
  • An understanding of safeguarding in schools.
  • A positive, professional approach that reflects the values and image of the school.

Although previous school experience is desirable, we welcome applications from all candidates who are eager to learn and grow with us. This is a short-term contract until July 2027, 21 hours per week as Teaching Assistant and 1.5 hours as an MDSA, term time only.

This person will work as part of a small, friendly team in this rural village school.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self‑declaration form as part of the pre‑employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
