£35,000 per annum plus £3,000 shift allowance
Brief
Shift Electrical Engineer needed for a large, well‑known facilities management organisation based in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be an experienced, well‑rounded electrical engineer with in‑depth knowledge of diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical systems. In this role you will undertake reactive work, fault‑finding, and repair, with a focus on maintaining high quality and safety standards.

What the role entails
- Respond to reactive jobs, diagnosing, fault‑finding and repairing complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards, operational procedures and legislation.
- Respond to BMS alerts and telephone calls during the night shift, acting as the initial point of contact, assessing the issue, allocating the task to the appropriate team member and completing the necessary documentation.
- Ensure all records are handed over to the Helpdesk team at the start of their shift to support effective service continuity.
- Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as low‑voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations.
- Act as an Authorised Person where appropriate after suitable training and familiarisation.
- Work on emergency lighting, nurse call systems, general electrics, and fire alarms, among other duties.
Qualifications and experience
- City and Guilds levels 2 and 3
- AM2
- 18th edition standard for maintenance
- Previous experience within a maintenance environment
- Previous experience within a healthcare maintenance environment (desirable)
- DBS Standard check (must be able to pass)
