Overview

Vision for Education is recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant on a full time basis for a Mainstream Primary (within the SEN department) to start ASAP.

Responsibilities

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will support pupils in class, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, using behaviour management skills to assist pupils to manage their behaviour and support them with learning. Pupils are aged 4‑11, many with EHCPs for Special Educational Needs & Disabilities and/or Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) and associated needs such as Autism or ADHD.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about creating engaging, fun ways to support pupils and help them find school a safe, positive, enjoyable place to learn.

Requirements

  • Desired: Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or Level 2/3 Early Years Educator
  • Desired: Able to drive
  • Prior school experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH or challenging behavioural needs
  • Confidence in behaviour management skills to de‑escalate threatening or aggressive behaviour
  • Ability to mentor and engage pupils, delivering specifically designed educational packages
  • Resilient, empathetic, patient, and not taking things too personally
