Help Brighten Someone’s Day – Personal Assistant Needed

We are looking for a kind‑hearted, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant to support a gentleman, living with early onset advanced dementia. This role is all about providing meaningful companionship, gentle support, and helping him enjoy the world around him. A full driving licence is essential, as he requires 2:1 care always.

About the Role

This gentleman is non‑verbal, but he is very much aware of what’s happening around him and appreciates eye to eye contact with friendly facial expressions and being spoken to in a gentle quiet manner. He communicates his feelings through his behaviour and facial expressions – he may switch off, become sleepy, or appear bored when unhappy. Your presence, attention, and respect will make a real difference to his day.

You’ll be working alongside an experienced main PA, ensuring he feels included, valued, and safe always. His wellbeing is the absolute priority, and we’re looking for someone who truly understands that.

Daily Support & Activities

  • Personal care, including support with pads for toileting
  • Gentle assistance with mobility – he may have jerky movements and is at risk of falls
  • Calm, patient support as tasks may take a little extra time
  • Social time and companionship, to be creative with places to go to.
  • Outings from late mornings to the mid‑afternoon or early evening, once he is up and ready for the day
  • This gentleman enjoys walking very much ie: National Trust visits to Wallington etc, people‑watching, and spending time outdoors when the weather is kind

What We’re Looking For

We’re hoping to find someone who truly sees him at the centre of everything they do – someone who speaks to him with respect, never over him, and who brings patience, gentleness, and genuine understanding to every interaction. His condition means things can take a little longer, and he may have sudden movements or moments of vulnerability, so a calm, steady presence is essential. Most of all, we’re looking for a person who values dignity, connection, and the small moments that make his day brighter.

This vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed.

At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
