Maintenance Engineer
Location: Tipton. Salary: £52,000 – £55,000 per annum. Shifts: rotating – 5:00 am‑2:00 pm, 1:00 pm‑10:00 pm, 9:00 pm‑6:00 am. Full‑time, permanent.
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established and growing food manufacturing business based in Tipton. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work within a fast‑paced production environment, playing a key role in maintaining and improving manufacturing and packaging equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
- Maintain and repair pumps, conveyors, fillers, cookers and packaging machinery
- Undertake PLC fault finding (programming experience not required)
- Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, HACCP and GMP standards
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise plant performance
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent Engineering qualification
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding capabilities
- Experience working on high‑speed production or packaging lines
- Ability to work a rotating shift pattern
Desirable Skills & Experience
- PLC fault‑finding experience (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
- 18th Edition qualification
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
