Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

Electrical Engineer to work on-site at Wishaw University Hospital, ML2 0DP, covering preventive maintenance, refurbishment and reactive maintenance on a long‑term contract.

Core Details

• Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (37.5 hours per week). Overtime and shift work available.
• Flexible 12‑hour day shift (7 am–7 pm) and night shift (7 pm–7 am) pattern also offered.
• Hourly rate £22.60 with overtime at 1.5×, plus 2× for Sundays and Bank Holidays.
• Immediate interviews and start dates.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out trade‑specific maintenance tasks including PPMs, reactive breakdowns, fault finding and remedial work.
• Service and maintain building services plant and equipment in line with relevant standards.
• Respond to reactive breakdowns and perform required repairs.
• Complete scheduled planned preventive maintenance duties.
• Participate in a small maintenance team of engineers and support staff.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Fully qualified electrical engineer with experience in commercial or hospital buildings.
• JIB Gold certification.
• City & Guilds qualification.
• Approved 2391 testing and inspection certification.
• Compliance with 18th Edition of the relevant electrical code.
• Good technical ability and working knowledge of various electrical systems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Methodical, multi‑tasking and pro‑active problem‑solving attitude.
• “Can‑do” work ethos.
