Job Description:

Ultra PCS is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the development of next generation military land and aerospace products. The role will involve deploying solutions across a diverse portfolio, including electro-mechanical systems, innovative power management, electronic command and control, pneumatic systems, and electronic architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for military land and aerospace industries using a systems engineering approach.
  • Lead discussions with customers to elicit key stakeholder requirements.
  • Translate customer requirements into realizable product requirements.
  • Perform requirements‑based verification and validation using manual and scripted methods.
  • Produce interface control documents, system design documents, and supporting documentation.
  • Control and manage engineering change throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Prepare technical proposals, including estimations and presentations.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentor other Systems Engineers within the project team.
  • Coordinate and provide technical leadership for a multi‑discipline project team delivering complex mechanical, electronic and embedded software solutions.
  • Ensure safety‑critical solution development in accordance with DO‑178/DO‑254 or IEC61508.
  • Utilize MATLAB, Simulink and other engineering tools; manage change control and problem reporting processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous Systems Engineering experience.
  • Good engineering or science degree, preferably in systems engineering.
  • Ability to operate within a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Strong independent and collaborative work capability.
  • Excellent attention to detail focusing on requirements and specification structure.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, with cross‑functional teams, company authorities, and customers.
  • Eligible to work in the UK without restrictions and prepared for UK National Security Vetting.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience developing safety‑critical solutions per DO‑178/DO‑254 or IEC61508.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, change control and problem reporting processes.
  • Awareness of electronic, software or mechanical engineering development.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency including Visio, Excel and Word.
