Senior Design Engineer

My client is a well established and growing Building Services Consultancy delivering innovative engineering solutions across a diverse range of commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and industrial projects.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team in Newcastle.
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from concept through to completion. Working closely with clients, architects, and fellow engineering disciplines, you will deliver high-quality, sustainable, and technically robust solutions across a varied project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of building services projects across multiple sectors.
- Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, reports, and detailed design drawings.
- Coordinate designs with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams.
- Manage project delivery, ensuring programmes, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
- Act as the Electrical Lead on projects and attend client and design team meetings.
- Support and mentor Junior and Intermediate Engineers.
- Contribute to the development of low-carbon and energy‑efficient design solutions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practice.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Senior Electrical Design Engineer position.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Experience using Trimble and Amtech software.
- Strong knowledge of electrical building services design and project delivery.
- Experience developing low-carbon and sustainable engineering solutions.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
