Job Title: Pastoral Officer

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of exemplary behaviour and high expectations, upholding and embedding the school’s behaviour policy and CREDIT values.
  • Model excellence and build high‑impact relationships by establishing strong, professional relationships with pupils and acting as a visible role model and mentor.
  • Lead and deliver restorative behavioural practice by applying a restorative approach to behaviour management, leading investigations, conflict resolution, and mentoring interventions.
  • Operate and strengthen behaviour systems, including investigation of incidents, managing referrals, supervising the R Room provision, and ensuring administration meets a high standard.
  • Champion whole‑school culture and engagement, supporting assemblies, events and meetings to promote positive behaviour across all year groups.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant qualifications: at least GCSE grade C/4 in English and Mathematics; additional qualifications desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience working with young people and families across educational settings.
  • Data literacy: ability to analyse data, identify trends and produce insight‑driven reports.
  • IT proficiency: confident using Excel and school platforms such as SIMS and CPOMS, or willingness to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
  • Highly organised with strong time‑management, able to prioritise under pressure and remain calm in crisis situations.
  • Teamwork: ability to collaborate, contribute to improvements and work constructively as part of a wider team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and alignment with the school’s ethos and values.

Pay

Pay range: NJC SCP 9 – 17; Full Time; Permanent.
