Senior Electrical Project Engineer – Water Sector

Location: SheffieldPay: £60,000 – £65,000 + packageHours: Full-time, 45 hours per weekSecurity Clearance: BPSS Required (Pre‑employment)

The Opportunity

If you’re an experienced Electrical Project Engineer looking to step into a role with real ownership, this is it. You’ll take the lead on engineering delivery across major water sector projects—driving technical excellence, ensuring commercial success, and playing a key role in project leadership. This isn’t a back‑office design role; you’ll be front and centre, influencing outcomes on site and in the boardroom.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Taking full responsibility for coordinating all electrical engineering aspects of projects
  • Ensuring designs, procurement, and installations align seamlessly across disciplines
  • Technically reviewing and approving procurement packages and subcontractor submissions
  • Leading drawing coordination, ensuring accuracy and buildability
  • Supporting commercial delivery alongside the Project Surveyor
  • Managing labour, productivity, and materials to keep projects on track and profitable
  • Working closely with Site Managers to drive installation progress and resolve issues
  • Monitoring project performance through reporting and productivity tracking
  • Acting as Project Manager when required — this role is a clear step toward PM level

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Project Engineer (ideally within water/utilities or infrastructure)
  • Strong understanding of M&E coordination and installation processes
  • Commercial awareness — you understand cost, value, and delivery
  • Confident managing subcontractors and technical submissions
  • A hands‑on, solutions‑focused approach
  • Leadership capability with the ambition to step into Project Management

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Clear progression path into Project Management
  • High‑impact role with genuine autonomy
  • Stable, long‑term work within the water sector
  • Strong salary bracket with opportunity to grow

The Bottom Line

This is for engineers who don’t just want to “support projects”—they want to drive them. If you’re ready to step up, take ownership, and be recognised for delivering results, this role will put you in that position.
