Assistant Director of Compliance and Building Safety
Location: National (Hybrid, based at your nearest office: Bradford, Burnley, Camberley, Peterborough, Stockton)
Salary: Circa £90k per annum
Permanent, 35 hours per week
This role will lead compliance and building safety across a national portfolio, ensuring regulatory obligations are met and exceeding customer safety expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead asset compliance and building safety across gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, legionella, lifts, and more.
- Maintain 100% compliance through robust systems, data (the “golden thread”), and performance monitoring.
- Drive a zero‑tolerance culture for health and safety risks.
- Oversee procurement and contract management, delivering strong performance and value for money.
- Act as key contact with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Develop KPIs and early warning indicators to manage and improve performance.
- Lead high‑performing teams and supply chains, embedding accountability and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets and ensure efficient, cost‑effective delivery.
- Support delivery of the Asset Management Strategy and long‑term investment plans.

About you
- CIH Level 5 (or equivalent, with CIH top‑ups) or willingness to work towards.
- Extensive experience in construction or a related field, with a strong track record managing compliance and safety across large property portfolios.
- Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop high‑performing teams.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of compliance and health‑&‑safety regulations.
- Demonstrated experience managing substantial budgets and delivering value through effective procurement.
- Excellent negotiation, decision‑making, and communication skills, and ability to navigate complex situations and build stakeholder relationships.
- Strong IT literacy, including MS Office and asset‑management systems.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
