Senior Highway Design Engineer

Location: Bristol

Salary: £35,000 – £50,000

Take full ownership of the S278 and S38 schemes in Bristol, delivering end‑to‑end highway design and approvals. You will manage project delivery from concept through to approval, coordinate with local authorities, clients and design teams, support drainage and flood risk inputs, and mentor junior staff. The role offers real responsibility, project ownership and a clear progression path toward a Principal level.

Key responsibilities

• Lead S278 and S38 highway design and approvals
• Produce and check drawings using AutoCAD and Site 3D
• Coordinate with local authorities, clients and design teams
• Support drainage and flood risk inputs where required
• Manage selected highway schemes from start to completion
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians

Candidate requirements

• 3 to 5 years of UK consultancy experience
• Strong development‑led highways design background
• Experience with AutoCAD and Site 3D
• Confident, organised and commercially aware
• Keen to progress into a leadership role
