To support this ambition, we are looking for a Data Protection Manager to lead and champion data protection and privacy across the organisation, helping to ensure compliance with legislation while embedding a positive and proactive data protection culture.
The Role
As Data Protection Manager, you will play a pivotal role within the Risk and Assurance team, acting as the organisation’s subject matter expert on data protection, privacy and information governance. Working closely with colleagues across the business, senior leaders and external stakeholders, you will support the statutory Data Protection Officer in ensuring GreenSquareAccord remains compliant with data protection legislation and best practice.
You will provide expert advice, oversee information requests and data breaches, support major projects and business change initiatives, and help colleagues understand and meet their responsibilities when handling personal information.
What You Will Be Doing
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising the organisation on compliance with data protection legislation and privacy requirements
- Monitoring and reporting on data protection compliance across the business
- Managing Data Subject Access Requests and other statutory information requests within legal timescales
- Overseeing the investigation and reporting of data breaches and privacy incidents
- Maintaining records of processing activities, data sharing agreements and data protection impact assessments
- Supporting projects and business change initiatives by identifying and mitigating privacy risks
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining data protection policies, procedures and privacy notices
- Acting as a key point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office and other regulatory bodies
- Providing specialist advice to colleagues on data sharing, information governance and privacy matters
- Delivering training, awareness programmes and guidance to help embed a strong data protection culture
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to promote best practice and continuous improvement
What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of data protection legislation, excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and support colleagues at all levels.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant experience working in a data protection, information governance or compliance role
- In-depth knowledge of UK data protection legislation and regulatory requirements
- A relevant data protection, information governance or information security qualification
- Experience managing data protection incidents, information requests and compliance activities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and proportionate advice
- Experience developing policies, procedures and governance frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience delivering training and awareness programmes
- The ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into clear business guidance
- Experience working with senior leaders and influencing organisational decision-making
- Experience within the housing sector or a similarly regulated environment would be beneficial.
