This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Litigation Lawyer who is willing to join a lively, prosperous local authority in a friendly environment where your personal and professional development will be encouraged.Key responsibilities of the Litigation Lawyer will includeThe Litigation Legal Team sits alongside a Corporate Legal Team and covers wide and vast areas of law, providing the postholder an opportunity to learn and develop new skills and expertise in the following areas:Criminal and Civil Litigation including advocacy ntt Licensing law and public protection ntt Employment law ntt Enforcement of regulatory matters, including prosecutions (Environmental Health, Food Safety, Health and Safety and Work, Licensing, Planning and Trading Standards)ntt Anti-social behaviour and community safety ntt Local Authority Housing ntt National Non-Domestic Rates litigation ntt Commercial disputes ntt GDPR, Data Protection and Freedom of Information ntt Local Government law and procedures
Required experience/qualifications of the Litigation Lawyer position will includeYou will be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Lawyer / Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practising certificate nt Representing Legal Services team at committee meetings and also representing the council’s interests with external organisations ntt Supporting the Principal Solicitors, Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer as required ntt Possessing up-to-date knowledge in respect of national trends, policy, legislation, guidelines, initiatives and best practice in Legal and Local Government ntt Communicating and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, building partnerships and productive working relationships to achieve shared objectivesYou will need to have experience in drafting and will be skilled at drafting legal documentation
