Volunteer Distance Learning Tutor – United Kingdom (Remote)
Can you offer clear, encouraging written feedback to prisoners working hard to improve their future? Would you like to volunteer from home for around three hours a week, at times that fit around you?
The role
Criminon UK is looking for Volunteer Distance Learning Tutors to support prisoners through postal distance-learning courses. This is a home-based volunteer role, with course materials managed through Royal Mail rather than online.
Once fully trained, you will support a minimum of 20 learners that will be sent to you at the rate of 1-2 a week. This usually takes around three hours per week, and you are likely to receive no more than five pieces of learner work each week. We are looking for volunteers who can offer regular support for at least 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Give friendly, respectful and reliable support to learners
- Mark learner work and provide helpful feedback within one week
- Reply to team emails promptly, where possible within 24 hours, excluding weekends
- Keep accurate records of learner progress
- Raise any concerns about learner work with the Executive Director
- Follow the framework set by LASER Learning Awards
- Handle learner information securely and in line with GDPR
- Keep course materials, passwords and access details safe
- Work closely with the Executive Director and wider team
