Consultant in Endocrinology & Diabetes

An opportunity has arisen to join the Diabetes and Endocrine Department at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust – Ipswich Site. The role supports either of two subspecialist services – antenatal diabetes and the diabetic foot services – and offers the chance to develop research interests.
Applicants will hold a full time Consultant position in Endocrinology & Diabetes with General Internal Medicine (GIM). Completion of CCT or being within six months of obtaining it (or equivalent through the Pathway Portfolio) is required.

Job responsibilities
All consultants in the department have a continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide, in conjunction with their colleagues, an effective service to meet the needs of the local population, within the resources available.
- Work with colleagues to provide a consultant‑led service with the highest standard of care
- Work with the multi‑professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
- Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&E
- Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care
- Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi‑disciplinary team
Person Specification
- MRCP or equivalent
- Full registration with GMC with specialist register or within six months of expected date of CCT
- Wide range of experience in acute general medicine and diabetes and endocrinology
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Evidence of clinical audit
- Postgraduate thesis
- DAFNE accreditation

Salary
£113,565 to £150,569 a year (on experience)
