We are currently supporting a specialist education provider in the recruitment of an experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6 equivalent) to join a growing and highly collaborative therapy team within a well-established specialist school setting.
This is a confidential opportunity within a provision supporting autistic children and young people with social communication differences, demand avoidant profiles, and associated emotional and mental health needs.

The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and ongoing development of the Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) service across the school, working under the supervision of the Head of Therapy and Clinical Lead for Speech and Language Therapy.
You will work as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team comprising:
- Four Speech and Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Clinical Psychologists
- Psychotherapeutic Therapist
- School Crisis Counsellor / Pastoral Lead
- Parent Liaison Officers
- Full-time School Nurse
- Therapy Assistants
This role involves close daily collaboration with education staff to co-produce and embed consistent, practical, and neuroaffirming communication strategies across the school environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Manage a varied and complex SaLT caseload across specialist educational settings
- Provide both direct and indirect therapy input, including classroom-based intervention and strategy modelling
- Support co-regulation approaches and staff upskilling within learning environments
- Deliver training to staff teams and contribute to whole-school therapeutic practice
- Contribute to service development and innovation within the SaLT provision
- Participate in the Therapy Professional Development & Pay Framework, supporting clear progression pathways
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist
- BSc or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
- Confidence working autonomously with complex communication profiles
- Experience delivering both direct and indirect intervention approaches
- Commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, child-centred practice
