Maintenance Assistant – Medical Engineering

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Assistant to join the Medical Engineering team based at Leighton Hospital.
The role is to assist Medical Engineers and other trained staff in carrying out maintenance duties throughout the Hospital and other premises, though this is a varied role as the duties listed within the attached job description demonstrate.
To undertake unsupervised routine maintenance, once deemed competent, on medical equipment that does not justify the attention of a fully qualified Engineer.
To be the first point of contact for callers, either in person or by telephone, to the Medical Engineering Department.
Applicants should have excellent people skills, the ability to work as part of the existing team in a calm and professional manner, be computer literate and able to work on their own initiative.
The hours of work are routinely 08.15 – 16.45, however it may occasionally be necessary to work outside of these times as operational pressures dictate.
Successful candidate will have:
- An engineering background with a general knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
- An NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in an engineering discipline.
- Full U.K. driving license.
Main duties of the job
- Testing Infusion Devices as they are returned through the Loan Store.
- Booking in equipment for repair onto the department Medical Equipment Management System.
- Answering the door & Telephone enquiries.
- Assisting Medical Engineers or other staff as directed throughout the Trust premises.
Job responsibilities
- Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance that does not justify the attention of a fully qualified engineer.
- Provision of the hospital Loan Store System.
- Be the initial point of contact into Medical Engineering.

Person Specification
Qualifications
