Based at the National Greyhound Support Centre – Horley, Surrey

Greyhound Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Kennel Manager to help lead operations at our National Greyhound Centre. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in transforming the lives of retired racing greyhounds by supporting their journey from kennel to loving home.

Taking responsibility for our Flagship Greyhound Homing Centre, you will be an experienced animal homing professional with a proven ability to manage and lead staff and volunteers to deliver a highly performing homing centre. You will need an excellent balance between leading and managing and getting actively involved in operations as required.

You need to be a strong, proactive and positive manager, focused on the success of the charity, ensuring all possible strategies are deployed to facilitate improved outcomes for greyhounds whilst ensuring staff, volunteers and supporters feel valued, engaged and proud to be part of Greyhound Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day management of the National Greyhound Centre.
  • Deliver an exceptional homing experience for potential adopters, ensuring greyhounds are matched and homed efficiently and responsibly.
  • Maintain the highest standards of greyhound welfare and care in accordance with Greyhound Trust policies and current legislation.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and support volunteers, foster carers, and work experience students.
  • Co‑ordinate and deliver fundraising activities, community events, and local partnership development.
  • Maintain accurate greyhound records and assessments using our management systems.
  • Support staff performance, development, and training.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, GDPR requirements, and health and safety standards.
  • Ensure that greyhounds in our care receive the best possible care and enrichment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • A confident and positive leader who can motivate and support a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance operational responsibilities while maintaining excellent customer service.
  • Adaptable, solution‑focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with volunteers, customers, or community groups.
  • Commitment to animal welfare and Greyhound Trust’s mission.
  • Remain calm and professional under pressure and can confidently manage challenges as they arise.
