Residential Childcare Senior Support Worker – Provide High-Quality Care and Support to Children and Young People. Day and Night Shifts Available.

  • Location: TEIGNBRIDGE

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Residential Childcare Support Workers to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people living in our residential home. You will play a vital role in helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

20.00 – 08.00 Monday – Sunday (rota pattern)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the emotional, social, and educational development of children and young people.
  • Supervise and support team members.
  • Lead and direct teams on shift.
  • Support Registered Manager and take overall control of the home in their absence.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children, following safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing home environment.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and daily records.
  • Build trusting relationships with children, families, and professionals.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help young people develop life skills and independence.
  • Participate in shift work, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑ins.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people in a care or support setting.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with young people.
  • Resilience, patience, and a commitment to trauma-informed care.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and sleep‑in shifts.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and learning disabilities.

  • Good references.
  • You must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Reliability and good communication.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • A commitment to gaining a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
