Job Description:

Job purpose

To collect and deliver surplus stock from collection points within shops/depots and to support the delivery of processed stock.

Dimensions

  • Collects surplus stock from Oxfam shops and donation banks, and delivers processed stock to customers
  • Carries out clearly defined tasks as set out by the Manager/Coordinator
  • Takes responsibility for the vehicle and equipment used in daily work
  • Completes all tasks in line with relevant legislation and Health & Safety standards and guidelines
  • Provides clear and comprehensive information to colleagues, the coordinator, and occasionally members of the public

Key responsibilities

  • Ensures all products are loaded, collected, and delivered safely and on time
  • Maintains and drives the vehicle in line with standards set by VOSA and the client company
  • Carries out all duties correctly, safely, and in accordance with procedures
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately on a daily basis
  • Performs daily vehicle checks to ensure it is safe and roadworthy
  • Works in compliance with EU Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive (WTD) legislation
  • Maintains a professional approach to uphold service standards and protect Oxfam’s reputation with both internal and external stakeholders

Skills and Competence

  • Able to follow set procedures and instructions (Essential)
  • Able to use initiative and work with minimal supervision (Essential)
  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues (Essential)
  • Willing and able to work effectively as part of a team (Essential)
  • Good verbal communication skills with a customer-focused attitude (Essential)
  • Knowledge and understanding of tachograph rules and EC Drivers’ Hours legislation (Essential)
  • Holds a valid Class C driving licence (Essential)
  • Possesses a digital tachograph card (Essential)
  • Previous multi-drop delivery experience (Desirable)
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy items (Essential)
  • Reliable and flexible in relation to tasks and working hours (Essential)
  • Holds a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) (Essential)

Other

To be aware of all the Department of Transport, driver regulations and ensure all reasonable steps are taken to comply fully. On the grounds of vehicle/road safety, this factor overrules all other factors.
