Main duties of the job

To assist clinicians in the care of Solihealth patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. The post will also include some administrative duties.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POST

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strictconfidentiality.

An ability to sure own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense andlocal knowledge to respond to patients enquiries and requests.

Ability to work without direct supervision and determine own workloadpriorities.

Basic keyboard and computer skills.

Flexibility of working hours.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE ORGANISATION

Contributing to service development and implementation of the servicecontract.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Solihealthpolicies/guidelines/procedures, e.g. safeguarding, confidentiality, dataprotection, health and safety.

A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-basedbest practice.

Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.

Contributing to the summarising of patient records.

COMMUNICATION

The post-holder should recognise the importance of effectivecommunication within the team and will strive to:

Communicate effectively with patients and carers.

Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication andrespond accordingly.

Attending training events organised by Solihealth where appropriate.

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allowus to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and othermatters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff willrespect their privacy and act appropriately.

In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, thepost-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patientsand their carers, Solihealth staff and other healthcare workers. They may alsohave access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation.All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictlyconfidential.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Care Certificate

Experience

  • Experience of working within healthcare
  • Experience of working in Primary Care
  • Experience in LARC services
  • Experience in minor surgery services
