Here at the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) you will join an innovative, forward thinking team with the collective objective of providing first class rehabilitation to our patients.
We are looking for an ambitious and dedicated Social Worker to play a pivotal role within the interdisciplinary team at the NRC. This role is integral to supporting patients and their families throughout their rehabilitation journey, coordinating patient pathways, supporting timely discharge planning, and facilitating access to community resources and services.

The post holder will be a key advocate for patients and families, helping to navigate challenges and enabling individuals to maximise their independence and quality of life. The post holder will work closely with patients, carers, and professional colleagues to address complex social, emotional, and practical needs, ensuring person‑centred care remains at the heart of the rehabilitation process.

Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum.

Training and Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Social Work e.g.: BA, BSc; MA in Social Work; Diploma in Social Work Certificate of Qualification in Social Work; Social Work England registration
- Evidence of post graduate Clinical Professional Development
Experience
- Experience of 1:1 social casework to enable discharge
- Ability to assess, and manage complex cases in the multi-disciplinary inpatient setting
- Good understanding of the benefit/social welfare system including housing issues
- Experience of working with patients with a life‑threatening condition; Spinal Cord Injury; Brain Injury; Polytrauma.
- Experience of working with adults of working age e.g. returning to vocational and family roles
Communication and Relationship Skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Professional caring attitude, approachable and courteous manner
- Ability to convey sensitive information
- Ability to work collaboratively with partner organisations
- Ability to manage conflict
Physical Skills
- Information technology skills, including use of internet, emails and word processing.

- Understanding of personal development from adolescent to adulthood and techniques to overcome resistance to change.
