About the role
Cardiff Safeguarding and Children teams are located across St. Mellons (East), Fairwater (North) and Cardiff Bay (South). As a child protection social worker you will support children and young people through robust assessment, outcome‑focused planning and effective intervention to achieve positive outcomes within families and communities. Working within a restorative practice approach, you will collaborate with families and multi‑agency colleagues to address presenting concerns and underlying difficulties.
Responsibilities

- Deliver a restorative practice approach.
- Maintain an average caseload of 20.
Qualifications
- Experience as a child protection social worker, including safeguarding, child protection and court proceedings.
- Front‑line post‑qualifying experience in child protection services.
- A degree in Social Work.
- Excellent assessment skills and the ability to produce concise records and reports.
- Strong team player, communication, organisational and IT skills.
- Registration with Social Care Wales required.
- Enhanced DBS checks required.
- Applicants may also be considered for a Grade 7 position.
