About the role

Cardiff Safeguarding and Children teams are located across St. Mellons (East), Fairwater (North) and Cardiff Bay (South). As a child protection social worker you will support children and young people through robust assessment, outcome‑focused planning and effective intervention to achieve positive outcomes within families and communities. Working within a restorative practice approach, you will collaborate with families and multi‑agency colleagues to address presenting concerns and underlying difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people through robust assessment, outcome‑focused planning and effective intervention.
  • Work in partnership with families and multi‑agency colleagues to address presenting concerns and underlying difficulties.
  • Deliver a restorative practice approach.
  • Maintain an average caseload of 20.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a child protection social worker, including safeguarding, child protection and court proceedings.
  • Front‑line post‑qualifying experience in child protection services.
  • A degree in Social Work.
  • Excellent assessment skills and the ability to produce concise records and reports.
  • Strong team player, communication, organisational and IT skills.
  • Registration with Social Care Wales required.
  • Enhanced DBS checks required.
  • Applicants may also be considered for a Grade 7 position.
