Sunderland Care and Support is seeking to recruit Support Workers to support adults with a range of needs including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs.
Our customers have a wide range of complex needs and interventions which can include active support and positive behaviour support techniques. They require consistent members of a team to support them to maintain their safety and may be required to provide support with personal care needs as part of their care plan. Also, to engage them to participate and explore their local communities and activities. This care and support should have the individual at its centre, promote respect, dignity, engagement, and participation throughout the delivery of personalised care and support.

About the role
As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support, tailored to each individual’s needs, strengths and aspirations. You will work as part of a consistent and supportive team, promoting independence, dignity, safety and wellbeing.
We actively support people to enjoy meaningful lives, including social activities and opportunities that matter to them. As part of our commitment to the Stay Up Late campaign, this may include supporting customers to attend evening events, gigs, social activities or community opportunities that take place outside traditional daytime hours.
Support may include:
- Assisting with meal and drink preparation
- Supporting domestic and household tasks
- Administering and recording medication
- Supporting money management and budgeting
- Providing personal care in line with individual care plans
- Encouraging and supporting community activities and social inclusion
- Supporting relationships with friends and family
- Providing emotional support
- Using active support and positive behaviour support techniques (training provided)
- Supporting customers to plan holidays and, where required, providing support during holidays (additional payment applies)

About you

- Able to commit to a designated rota line covering shifts Monday to Sunday.
- Flexible and willing to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Willing to learn and develop new skills
Experience of working in care is not essential, as full training and support will be provided.

What we offer
- £13.45 per hour in line with the Foundation Living Way
- 37 hours per week available
- Sleep-in payment of £43.12 per shift (where applicable)
- We pay for your DBS check
- Designated rota patterns including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays

- Regular one-to-one supervision and annual appraisal
- 26 days annual leave entitlement rising to 31 days with 5 years continuous service, excluding bank holidays
