Job Description:

Catchment Operator – Plymouth. 12-month fixed term contract. Salary: £27,523 per annum. Hours: 37 per week, with a 1 in 5 week standby rota after training.

Duties

  • Carry out on-site monitoring of treated wastewater and associated plant to ensure effective site operation and that compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Respond effectively to site conditions and instrument monitoring information that ensures compliance is maintained and the environment is protected.
  • Store and handle chemicals in accordance with COSHH, QMS procedures and relevant health and safety standards.
  • Carry out first-line maintenance on instruments and mechanical equipment.
  • Calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Use the iSCADA control system, PCs and other computer hardware and software to carry out the role effectively.
  • Carry out grounds maintenance.
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback of activities completed.
  • Adhere to schedules, business rules and procedures.
  • Liaise with Area Manager, Catchment Pilot and Technical Assistants to ensure schedules are optimised.
  • Liaise with Catchment Operators to carry out any required duties.
  • Liaise with Area Manager, Energy Maintenance and other members of the team to ensure site operation and asset maintenance is optimised.
  • Deal effectively with customer queries when directly approached and pass information up the management line where appropriate.
  • Regularly sample and test internal and external tanker deliveries and critical site control points on the treatment process.

What we are looking for

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths, English and a science subject.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Willingness to work outside in all conditions.
