Job Overview

An experienced Manual Turner is required to join a growing and dynamic engineering team. The role primarily involves manual turning, repair work, and reverse engineering to produce high‑precision, custom components. You will work on a variety of projects, often based on customer drawings, sketches, and samples. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll use traditional machining techniques, with a particular focus on repair and reverse engineering tasks for a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manual Turning: Set up and operate manual turning machines to manufacture high‑quality precision components from customer drawings, samples, and sketches.
  • Repair Work: Carry out repair work on damaged or worn‑out parts, including re‑machining, restoring components to working condition, and ensuring the correct dimensions and tolerances are met.
  • Reverse Engineering: Use reverse engineering techniques to replicate or modify existing parts where original drawings or specifications are not available.
  • Quality Control: Conduct in‑process and final inspections of parts to ensure they meet required tolerances and quality standards.
  • Tooling & Setup: Select and set up appropriate tooling and machine settings to optimise efficiency and minimise downtime.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform basic maintenance on manual turning equipment to ensure machines are running at peak performance. Troubleshoot any issues with machinery and components as they arise.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team and other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including repair reports, reverse engineering documentation, and job timings.
