Availability Window
The following days and times represent the availability windows we would like you to be available to work:
- Sun: 09:00-19:00
- Mon: 08:00-18:00
- Fri: 19:00-23:00
Pay Rate
Starts at £14.18 an hour; within the M25 the rate increases to £15.45. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with the possibility to work fewer hours (minimum 12).
Role Overview
As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver customers’ shopping from Lands End to John O’Groats. This role involves more than driving – it is about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.
You will have approximately 3 weeks’ notice of your exact shifts and will work within the availability windows above.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the van and trays are clean and kept tidy or organised.
- Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, picking up litter as you see it.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van as required, checking it for roadworthiness.
- Talk to customers about changes to their order, including substitutions; offer refunds for items that cause dissatisfaction.
- Treat products and deliveries as if they were your own.
- Explain to customers that they will not be charged for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving at the property if early.
- Call the store or centre if you are running 30 or more minutes late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and ensure our store best serves customers.
- Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand them and say thank you.
- Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Maintain an energetic and driven approach, integrating home and work to achieve a balanced life.
- Share ideas with managers and colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.
Qualifications
- A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic only) held for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Background: Identified responsibilities and qualifications indicated above.
