Overview

Responsibilities

The main focus of the role is providing essential, front‑line support to students so they have timely access to information and guidance, and consistent and practical advice to support them in continuation or completion of their studies. You will be the first point of contact for students, working and advising in line with university policies, maintaining accurate records and managing sensitive information with empathy, professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Act as a contact point and referral service to students with difficulties that may impact their studies, and signpost students to other services.
  • Understand and provide guidance to students and staff on university policies and procedures related to retention and engagement.
  • Support the administration and implementation of procedures and work related to retention and engagement.
  • Monitor enquiries to the team via email, telephone or in‑person to ensure they are responded to promptly, consistently and to a high standard.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in an office environment with contact via email, phone and face‑to‑face, with a variety of people.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to adapt your approach depending on student needs, show empathy and be approachable to students who may be facing difficulties.
  • Previous experience working in a confidential environment in line with data protection and safeguarding guidance.
  • Good IT skills and experience, and numeracy with an ability to process straightforward statistical information.
